STUDENT DIRECTION FOR REMOTE LEARNING TERM 2 2020
Dear Cessnock High School Community,
As online learning for term 2 starts again tomorrow, a reminder that Weeks 1 and 2 will continue as online learning from home.
Note below the key message from the Department of Education: Term 2 will begin as it finished in Term 1. The majority of NSW students will be learning from home. Schools will be open and operational for students that need to attend but where practical, parents are encouraged to keep their children at home. Teachers will plan the same learning for students at school and at home.
Key dates:
• Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 April 2020: Pupil-free days
• Wednesday 29 April – 8 May 2020: Students learning from home where practical
•Monday 11 May: students attend school one day a week and learn from home on the other days The Premier and Minister for Education have announced a phased operating model for NSW schools during COVID-19.
The new model will see students being reintroduced to some face-to-face learning on campus starting from week 3.
More information on the new model and operational changes will be provided to parents and students before Week 3 of Term 2 begins to let you know the plan for the remainder of the term.
Students will operate under similar arrangements as we concluded term 1, except that student work will be delivered as a two-week block of information supporting self-paced student learning.
Students booklets for those not working online are available at the front office. CHS ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM To support students and parents working online, the school has developed a fabulous “One Stop shop” which can be used to lead students and parents directly to their class page on either MS teams or Google classroom in a simple efficient manner.
The CHS Online Learning Platform can be accessed through the following link:
https://sites.google.com/education.nsw.gov.au/chs-onlinedashboard/home
The link will also be accessible through the school website:

The page also contains links to the Parent & Student Portal, Wellbeing Support, Aboriginal Education, Whole School Challenges and How To guides for parents to access Microsoft teams and Google classroom.
Take care and look after your families.
Yours Sincerely,
Peter Riley Principal – Cessnock High
